Ayia Napa
Ayia Napa has a long and fairly flat sandy beach with a gentle slope. It is safe for swimming and has a Blue Flag award for cleanliness. The beach is equipped with sunbeds and water -sports vendors. It is a popular spot with visitors from all over the world.
If you want to go hiking, head to Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Cyprus.
The views are spectacular. In winter, you can take a ski lift up part of the mountain.
After that, it’s a moderate hike to the summit.
Larnaca
If you want to experience a laid-back Mediterranean holiday, Larnaca is for you. This multicultural city sits on the eastern side of the island and is the perfect starting point for exploring all of Cyprus, including the towns of Ayia Napa and Northern Cyprus.
There are many reasons to visit Larnaca, including the sandy beaches and crystal-clear water. Those who love wreck diving should visit the Zenobia Ship Wreck, which is among the best wreck diving sites in the world. May through September are ideal months to visit, though summer can be hot. These species include foxes, hares, moufflons, and eagles. These animals are protected by Cyprus law, so it is illegal to hunt them. You can also enjoy hiking and skiing trails here.
The mountains in Troodos are also home to one of the best monasteries in Cyprus, Kykkos. The monastery is set in the foothills of the mountains and features gold furnishings and an impressive collection of paintings. The monastery also features the tomb of the nation’s national hero, Makarios. In addition, the area is home to EOKA hideouts.
Kourion
For hiking enthusiasts, the nearby Karpas Peninsula offers a wonderful mix of pristine beaches and rugged hills. There are many great hiking opportunities, picturesque villages and historical sites to explore. Highlights include the golden beach and the ruins of Agios Filon. park. A hike through the park is a great alternative to spending a day on the beach.
A visit to the ancient town of Kourion will reveal a town with a rich history.
